A little before spring, every year, the shoe shops of the world are filled with sandals that represent the illusion, the dream and the challenge achieved of hundreds of Maasai women. Pikolinos launches the new maasai collection,a collection of sandals that women in the community embroider for months in exchange for a salary that allows them to develop, undertake and have a vision for the future.
ADCAM collaborates with the company Pikolinos to develop the #ProyectoMaasai, social responsibility action that, for seven years, draws smiles in the Maasai Mara. Many of the objectives achieved and many remain to be met. From ADCAM we continue to work with the Maasai community, to promote them and show them that, without interceding in their culture, traditions or pace of life, ‘another world is possible’.
Today, many women have economic autonomy, they can cope with basic goods such as food, medicine or education for their children. But no one better than themselves to tell us what Project Maasai has meant in their lives. We present to you three of the women who, from Kenya and Tanzania, embroider the most special collection of Pikolinos: Lilian, Ntetia and Margaret.
